Hi Georgie,

I was reading your post about changing windscreen wipers when i remembered something...so i need your advice...

I was driving my sisters car the other day and i noticed that she has a small chip in her windscreen on the drivers side...my concern is that she does a lot of highway driving w/ her baby son in the back.

I was told that a tiny chip in the windscreen is very dangerous as it can shatter and break...im concerned that if my sister is driving on the highway and a another small flying rock comes at her, that the windscreen is already vulnerable to breakage...

someone told me that you can buy a little sticker to put on the crack to strengthen it.

What do you suggest? and is it dangerous?

Thanks.

Hi Karolina,

Yes it is dangerous to drive with a crack in your windscreen as it can develop into a larger problem as time goes by, especially if the windscreen recieves an impact like a flying rock or gravel.

Have your sister check her insurance policy as most include one free windscreen replacement per year. You can purchase stickers for small cracks from car care stores and some windscreens can be repaired without the need for replacement. Take the car to a windscreen repair centre and have them assess the damage.

Another good idea is to pop a copy of Galmatic - the Car Care Handbook for Girls in your sisters glovebox!Happy and safe cruisin'
