Dear Georgie,
I've noticed that my car has bubbly spots in certain places.
My car is old it is a 1975 Ford Cortina. people have said that the bubbles could be a number of things raging from water that's been trapped to sun damage (almost like the car has been sunburnt) i would like to know what you think Georgie.
The bubbles are on the door and boot of the car.
Thanks.
Karol.

| Well done on being the proud owner of a '75 Cortina. Vinyl roof? You will probably find that your cars paintwork is starting to oxidase, which means, just like skin, is feeling the effects of sun, wind, rain and pollution. The shine is probably fading and you might start to notice these 'bubbles' that you mention. Chances are that these bubbles are surface rust, much like cancer. Drop into a local panel beater and ask them to look over the car with you and show you of any other areas that might be rusting. Another common place is under the doors called the sills and around door rubbers, including the boot. The sooner you have surface rust repaired the better. This way you will minimise further panels rusting. A good idea is to start protecting your paintwork with good car care products. The Galmatic polish pack would be a great start. Make sure you chamois your car well and look up the care tips in the Day Spa for your Car chapter of your Galmatic Handbook. For more handy car care tips grab yourself a copy of Galmatic - the Car Care Handbook for girls. Hi Georgie,
Thank you so much for your advice. I took my car to the smash repairs and they told me exactly what you told me in your post and the great news is that we found all the spots that are showing signs of surface rust. In fact just like what you said, if you get to the problem early then you'll fix the problem before more problems happen. Also you have saved me soooo much money, fixing surface rust is nothing compared to rust that has gone deeper and is eating away at you car. Now that i know what to look out for i definately am going to monitor those early signs.
And yes, my car has a vinyl roof. I'll take a photo and post it if you like.
Cheers Karolina.
